Stage 18: Tour De France

This was as an easy stage a Tour de France stage will get. Maybe all is relative..but after close to 17,000ft of climbing yesterday, todays 4,000ft felt like a walk to grandma’s house (okey, I made that one up and I know it should end like a walk in the park).

Compared to the Pyrenee flat stages that were boring, the alps continued to provide incredible views.

All went well til after lunch when I suffered my chronic post surgery pain that shows unannounced. This is a surgery I had at 15 and every so often this weird pain plagues me (yes, I have seen the doctors so no don’t worry - if you are the type of person that worries). It usually lasts 30-60 minutes. Knowing it always ends in that time frame helps. So I moved at the back of the peloton and suffered through it. And as usual, in 45-60 minutes I was back to normal. Not just normal but right in the front of the peloton pulling like nothing just happened.

May the flat stage make the sprinters happy tomorrow. I know they suffered like I did in stage 17.
